Laura Doan, M.D.

I feel very honored to be able to practice as an OB/GYN. There are many aspects of the field I enjoy, but the part I treasure the most is my relationships with my patients. I get to participate in the biggest miracle in most people's lives, the birth of their children. I then get the chance to watch these same children grow into young adults and the mothers mature into empty nesters. I enjoy the challenge of learning the new procedures and skills. This keeps my mind actively engaged in the changing world around us.

I was born in 1960 in Ontario, Canada. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended grade school and high school in the Pattonville School District. I came to Kansas City in 1978 to attend medical school at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. I did my OB/GYN residency at St. Luke's Hospital here in Kansas City. I joined Associated Women's Care Physicians, P.C. in 1988. I have seen many changes in our community. Most changes have been good but the area has grown and our practice has grown with the community.

I have been married since 1982 to Kirk Doan (not the ophthalmologist). I have two sons that attend the Lee's Summit School District. Next to my relationship to God, I feel my sons are my biggest joy and challenge in life. They are teenagers and full of love, adventure and attitude. After I leave the office I am usually off to my second job as chauffeur, cook, maid, and homework assistant to my family. I love both my jobs and feel I am very blessed.

Uneeda Leverett, M.D.

I am a native of Detroit, Michigan.  I received my undergraduate degree in biology from Alabama State University in Mobile, Alabama. I then attended medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. My residency in OB/GYN was also completed there. I am Board Certified in OB/Gyn .  I accept most of the insurance plans listed including two of the Medicaid plans for pregnant women.

William L. Turano, M.D.

Undergraduate: B.S. in Biology
Medical School: New York Medical College, New York, NY
Internship: Nassau Hospital, Mineola, NY
Residency: Nassau Hospital, Mineola, NY
Board Certified: American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Dr. William Turano was born and raised in New York City. He and his wife, Dorothy, are the parents of 4 children that they have raised in Raytown, Missouri. Dr. Turano has been in the practice of medicine in the Kansas City area since 1972 and after many years of Obstetrics, stopped delivering babies in 2000. He is still practicing gynecology in our Raytown, Blue Springs and Lee's Summit offices.

Malaika Woods, M.D.

I was born and raised in Wichita, KS. I attended Wichita State University (WSU) where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with minors in Biology and Chemistry. After graduating from WSU, I completed medical school at the University of Kansas, earning an MD and an MPH (Masters of Public Health) degree. Within the field of medicine, I am interested in preventive health issues such as smoking cessation and weight loss. My interests outside of medicine include listening to music, singing and spending time with my family.

Sue Adrian, RN, ARNP (WHNP)

I attended Nursing School for my RN at St. Mary’s School of Nursing.  My desire to become more directly involved in the health care of Women led me to return to school in 1994.  I received my advanced certification as a Nurse Practitioner through the University of Missouri, St. Louis.  I maintain advanced certification through NCC>
I enjoy taking care of women from teens to adults.  I consider my communication skills and love of teaching as my strengths.  As a nurse practitioner, I feel like an integral member of the health care team.  I can perform routine gyn and prenatal exams, minor procedures such as endometrial biopsies and IUD placement.
I am the mother of 4 grown children and have 7 grandchildren which I think allows me to add life experience to my formal schooling.

Blanche McWilliams, RN, BSN, MSN, ARNP (WHNP)

I am originally from Bozeman, MT although frequent childhood moves established the KC area as home for many years.  My undergraduate schooling was at MU in Columbia, with the actual degree from Avila. I was one of the first graduates from UMKC and have been a Nurse Practitioner for over 25 years. I maintain NCC certification.
I worked exclusively with teens for 7 years of my practice but do enjoy care of women throughout the lifespan.  I can provide routine prenatal and gyn care, minor procedures including pessary fittings, IUD placement and colposcopies. I also offer a weight management support group.
The physicians in this group are supportive of the NP role and are always available for consults and back up.
I have a lumpy blended family of 7 grown children/stepchildren and 7 grandchildren.  Life experiences definitely help me to provide better care.
